IFA Type Ratings
Type Rating Instructor for Multi-Pilot Aeroplane TRI (MPA) Course

1. Introduction

Type Rating Instructor (MPA) Course
This course conforms to JAR-FCL 1 SUBPART H

2. Course Prerequisites

The applicant shall:
  • Have at least 1.500 hours flight time as pilot of Multi-pilot aeroplanes (in accordance with JAR-FCL 1.365 (a) (2)).
  • Have completed, within the 12 months preceding the application, at least 30 sectors, to include take-off and landing as Pilot-in-command or Co-pilot on the applicable type (in accordance with JAR-FCL 1.365 (a) (3)).

3. Course Objective

To provide licensed pilots with the required theoretical knowledge and practical flight training in order to meet the JAR-FCL Type Rating Instructor (MPA) qualification.

4. Course Structure

This course consists of:
A) Theoretical Instruction
This course comprises 35 hours.

B) Simulator Training
Comprises 40 hours of Simulator Training on aeroplane type.

C) Course Examination
Official Progress Tests are held during the whole course.
The pass mark for all written tests is 80%.
For Practical Classroom Instruction or Practical Flying a result “Standard” or above is required.

5. Privileges granted by this course

The privileges of the holder of an TRI (MPA) are:
  • To instruct licence holders for the issue of MPA Type Rating;
  • To provide instruction required for Multi-Crew Co-Operation (MCC).
